YANGON - Eight garment workers have now reportedly been arrested by the military junta in Myanmar in connection with two separate industrial disputes at their respective factories.

It was reported last week that fears were growing for Ma Thu Thu San, 28, a worker at the Hosheng Myanmar Garment Factory in Yangon, who has not been seen since she was seized by the junta.

Union leaders now say another five workers at the factory, which supplies brands including Spanish fashion giant Zara, have been arrested over the dispute in which workers were demanding a wage rise of 38 US cents per day.
