CHICAGO - Environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts have slipped down corporate priority lists, according to a new global survey of c-suite executives.
Fears of greenwashing accusations are among the obstacles to progress, according to the Harris Poll company's second annual sustainability survey of more than 1,476 top-level executives in 16 countries.
The survey, sponsored by Google Cloud, found that ESG efforts had fallen from top priority to third in 2023, with many business leaders claiming they were being pressured by “external parties” to de-prioritise sustainability.
