BRUSSELS - The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) has expressed disappointment with the European Commission's newly published plan to combat greenwashing which it says "falls short" of its target.
The SAC is particularly concerned that the European Union's proposed PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) tool, which it has been helping to develop over the last decade, has been weakened by the Green Claims Directive.
The directive says that PEF can be used to support the substantiation of green claims but only once it covers all environmental impact categories relevant for the product concerned.
