GREENSBORO – Consumers need to be educated to make more sustainable fashion choices, according to a new study co-written by an analyst at Kontoor Brands which owns Wrangler and Lee.
Sarif Patwary, the company's senior sustainability analyst, is the lead author of the report, entitled 'Apparel Consumer Behavior and Circular Economy: Towards a Decision-Tree Framework for Mindful Clothing Consumption'.
It argues that consumers have a vital role to play in "moving the clothing industry in a sustainable direction" but says whether they have the necessary knowledge to make the right decisions is a key concern.
