ARLINGTON – New research from the Better Buying Institute (BBI) claims to confirm a link between fashion brands' purchasing practices and human rights violations in supply chain factories.
Buyer purchasing practices have the most known impacts on noncompliance issues related to working time, workers’ contracts and workers’ compensation, according to the BBI report.
Researchers found some evidence that buyer purchasing practices affected health and safety, but only minimal evidence that they influenced child and forced labour, freedom of association and discrimination.
