RALEIGH - Academics at a US university are setting up a new simplified system for sharing information on working conditions in apparel factories with consumers.
A multi-disciplinary research team at North Carolina State University is developing the Ethical Apparel Index (EAI) to "demystify the vast amount of audit data" and enhance transparency in the industry.
They say the essential framework has already been developed and they are now preparing a pilot test next year in partnership with brands, retailers and factory owners.
