BRUSSELS - An alliance of garment industry NGOs and manufacturing associations from key supply chain countries has launched a joint statement on what it wants to see from the European Union's (EU) mandatory human rights due diligence proposals.
The coalition comprises Amfori, Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), Fair Wear Foundation, Sustainable Apparel Coalition and Transformers Foundation, along with manufacturer associations from Turkey, Morocco, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan.
It is calling on the EU to take a risk-based approach in its EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (EU CSDD) directive which will make companies responsible for human rights and environmental issues in their global supply chains.
