HELSINKI – Aalto University, in Finland, is the co-founder of a new spin-out established to accelerate the commercialisation of its Ioncell brand of recycled fibre.
It’s said to be the first company – of the hundred that roll out of the university each year – that the institute has become a founding partner of, highlighting its faith in the product – which is made from wood-based materials and textile waste.
“We have already proven that the Ioncell technology works on a smaller scale. Next, we will develop the manufacturing process towards the industrial scale,” commented co-founder Professor Herbert Sixta.
