PERTH - A new report on the impact of modern slavery legislation on the garment industry in the UK and Australia says too many firms are failing to comply with the minimum requirements.
Entitled Beyond Compliance in the Garment Industry, the study assesses the Modern Slavery Act (MSA) statements produced by companies and investors in the garment sector in both countries.
Produced by the Walk Free initiative in partnership with the WikiRate open data platform, it found that 31 per cent of companies assessed did not meet the minimum reporting requirements under the legislation.
