LEIDEN - Swedish-owned homeware giant IKEA has released its first ever Climate Report, alongside its Sustainability Report FY21, in which it confirms it is on track to meet its target of being climate positive by 2030.
IKEA's total climate footprint decreased by 1.6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent in absolute terms in the last financial year, compared to a 2016 baseline, a reduction of 5.8 per cent, while IKEA sales surpassed previous highs.
Inter IKEA Group CEO Jon Abrahamsson Ring singled out the company's replacement of virgin polyester with recycled polyester, resulting in a reduced climate footprint from polyester use by 45 per cent, as one key achievement.
