HANGZHOU - Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is targeting carbon neutrality in Scopes 1 and 2, as well as a 50 per cent reduction in Scope 3 emissions, by the end of the decade.
The company has also pledged to work with both merchants and consumers to cut carbon emissions by 1.5 gigatons across its 'digital ecosystem' by 2035.
Alibaba says it plans to adopt a multi-pronged approach, including carbon reduction, offsetting and actively removing greenhouse gases (GHG) from the atmosphere, to meet its targets.
