HANOI - A pilot project to boost the use of rooftop solar energy in Vietnam's apparel industry has been launched by the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii), Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA) and IDH – the Sustainable Trade Initiative.

The aim is to help the industry - which currently relies largely on coal for power - to transition to cleaner, renewable forms of energy to reduce its impact on climate change.

Major brands Arc’teryx, Columbia, Gap, Icebug, Lululemon and Target are backing the programme which aims to bring together 10 to 20 Vietnamese suppliers in an aggregated procurement approach to solar energy.
