SHEFFIELD - More than 100 well-known global brands and retailers are still at high risk of having cotton produced using forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China in their supply chains, according to a new report.
Entitled 'Laundering Cotton: How Xinjiang Cotton is Obscured in International Supply Chains', the study was produced by a team of international academics led by Laura Murphy at Sheffield Hallam University.
Brands and retailers named in the report include H&M, VF Corp, PVH Corp, Bestseller, Uniqlo, Patagonia, Levi’s, Tesco, Ikea, Nike, Adidas, Primark, C&A, Gap, and Marks & Spencer.
