CLERMONT-FERRAND – French recycling firm Carbios has opened an industrial demonstration plant to showcase the potential of its enzymatic recycling technology, called C-ZYME, at scale.
The company’s proprietary technology can break down PET plastic into its core monomers, and reached a breakthrough in November when it produced virgin-grade plastic bottles from textile waste.
“This is a watershed moment, highlighting how this revolutionary process works on a large scale,” said the CEO of Carbios, Jean-Claude Lumaret.
