SAN FRANCISCO - Sustainable footwear brand Allbirds is branching out into athletic wear after developing a range of apparel made with merino wool and yarn from eucalyptus trees.
The company says it wants to reduce the sportswear industry's reliance on synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, and claims that wool is ideal for exercise because of its natural moisture-wicking properties.
After 70 iterations, Allbirds has now launched its first activewear collection, called Natural Run, which includes running shorts, bike shorts, leggings, T-shirts and tank tops, all priced US$48-98.
