LAHTI - Fashion rental could have a bigger impact on climate change than owning garments and then throwing them away, according to a new study by scientists in Finland.
Researchers at LUT University calculated the greenhouse gas emissions connected to five different ways of owning and disposing of clothing and concluded that rental had the highest climate impact of all.
Their study, published in the peer-reviewed Environmental Research Letters journal, also found that recycling had a high climate impact because of the emissions generated during industrial recycling processes.
