The outcomes of an online roundtable session hosted by The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) are now being collated for use in a new roadmap for the textile industry to reduce the impact of microfibres on the environment.
The recent, invitation-only session, convened over 80 industry experts from brands, retailers, scientists, NGOs and other researchers to hammer out a way forward to measure, mitigate and engage legislators on the growing problem of minute fragments of textile fibres finding their way into global ecosystems.
Expected to be finalised before September 2021, the roadmap will reflect the vision of TMC which is to develop practical solutions to minimise fibre fragmentation and their release to the environment.
