NEW YORK – A new clothes swapping department store is to be trialled in New York next month, as it looks to shed the negative stigma surrounding pre-owned apparel and encourage more sustainable consumer behaviours.

The concept store, which will run from 22nd – 30th April, will host second-hand fashion brands while affording the opportunity for consumers to cash in on their unwanted items to raise funds for any items they might like.

Global Fashion Exchange (GFX), with support from the likes of Fashion Revolution and the New York Fair Trade Association, created the idea and will use its blockchain-enabled ‘SwapChain’ service, which tags garments and digitally chronicles their life.
