YANGON - Workers' rights campaigners have published a joint statement urging brands and retailers to condemn the military coup in Myanmar where striking workers and trade unionists face the growing threat of being arrested.
Police have issued arrest warrants for 20 union leaders including Ma Moe Sandar Myint, chairwoman of the Federation of General Workers Myanmar, who has gone into hiding.
She faced arrest for leading a protest march by more than 4,000 factory workers in the Hlaing Tharyar Township of Myanmar's biggest city Yangon.
