BERLIN – European fashion retailer Zalando has partnered with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF) in a bid to accelerate its plans of extending the lives of 50 million fashion products by 2023.
EMF champions a three-pronged approach in its pursuit of closing the loop on clothing, and encourages partners to design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use for longer, and regenerate natural systems.
“Our vision is to be a sustainable fashion platform with a net-positive impact for people and the planet,” commented Zalando’s head of circularity, Laura Coppen. “By joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s network, we can collaborate more closely with circular economy experts and organisations from different industries who are also part of it.”
