GLOBAL - More than 300 industry stakeholders, including brands, manufacturers, government representatives, trade unions and international organisations, have come together for a new bid to create a fairer fashion sector post pandemic.
The Industry We Want initiative was launched at an online event jointly hosted by the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and the Fair Wear Foundation.
Speakers included ILO director-general Guy Ryder, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Export Association president Rubana Huq, ITUC general secretary Sharan Burrow, Dutch Foreign Trade and Development Minister Sigrid Kaag, and Indonesian trade union leader Elly Rosita Silaban.
