LONDON – The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and FairWear have jointly published both a factory checklist and discussion sheet in an effort to ensure worker health and safety remains paramount whilst COVID-19 is a threat.
The guidance material details general factory measures that should be implemented as well as the safety precautions workers themselves should strive to abide by. It does this by providing a situational breakdown of how best people can protect themselves whilst continuing to operate, addressing transportation and waste management amongst other things.
“For brands there is a clear expectation to follow up closely with their suppliers, support them on health and safety and ensure sufficient measures are implemented to protect them,” ETI says.
