GENEVA - The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) has recognised Greek cotton that is grown to the country's AGRO-2 Integrated Management Standards certification as equivalent to its 'Better Cotton'.
The decision is a boost to the sustainability credentials of cotton farming in Greece which is the largest producer in Europe with more than 45,000 registered cotton farmers.
Farmers certified under the AGRO-2 standards, who elect to participate in the BCI Programme, will now be eligible to sell their produce as 'Better Cotton' from the 2020-21 cotton season.
