DHAKA – There’s concern in Bangladesh as countries within Europe register increases in the number of daily COVID-19 cases, which threaten the southeast Asian nation’s resurgence.
Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector is typically accountable for upwards of 80 per cent of national exports each year, and after the worst of the pandemic’s impact subsided was spurred by a record-breaking month of apparel exports in July.
Now though, as the likes of Germany, Spain and the UK see COVID-19 cases on the climb, Bangladesh fears that it may encounter further set-backs which could cost garment worker jobs.
