DHAKA – The team behind the Mapped in Bangladesh platform at BRAC University has released the findings of its latest Rapid Survey which assesses the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of garment workers.
“Since the effects of the pandemic are unfolding rapidly, it is imperative that we understand the extent of workers’ hardship and the impact of the pandemic on their livelihoods urgently,” the research group says.
Having spoken with more than 1,000 workers between June and July, figures show that 82 per cent saw their income drop compared to February, when the virus was just starting to spread across the globe.
