UTRECHT - The Solidaridad international organisation has added its voice to calls for the EU to introduce legislation requiring European businesses to carry out environmental and human rights due diligence throughout their supply chains.
Solidaridad, which works to make global supply chains more sustainable, says that voluntary initiatives will never be enough on their own to eradicate unsustainable practices.
In a new position paper on a European regulatory framework, it says: "For decades companies and governments have been working to make production chains more sustainable.
