LEICESTER - The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) has contacted the UK government's Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) to distance itself from Boohoo claims that it was "taking steps to gain membership".
Boohoo, which has been at the centre of the Leicester garment factories controversy, had told the EAC it had submitted an application to join the ETI and was looking forward to "helping the ETI carry out further due diligence".
But in an open letter to EAC chairman Philip Dunne MP, ETI executive director Peter McAllister said it although it had been approached by Boohoo it had not received any formal application.
