LONDON - Apparel has taken the biggest economic hit of any industry sector during the current coronavirus pandemic according to a new survey by ethical trade service provider Sedex.
The survey of 3,300 buyer and supplier members across 118 countries reveals that the garment and footwear sector, along with construction, is the worst affected and highlights supply chain disruption as the top challenge facing members.
Sedex, which works to improve conditions in global supply chains, found that 67 per cent of businesses overall expected decreases in revenue as a result of COVID-19, with 34 per cent saying this would be significant or critical.
