SAN FRANCISCO - Workers’ rights organisation Remake, which launched the PayUp campaign, to pressure brands and retailers to pay in full for orders during the coronavirus pandemic, has accused those who refuse of "colonialist" behaviour.
Some 15 brands, including Adidas, ASOS, H&M, Next, Nike, Zara, Marks and Spencer, PVH and VF Corp, have so far agreed to pay for completed orders and those in-production, worth an estimated US$7.5 billion globally.
However, Remake says other brands - such as C&A, Gap, Urban Outfitters and Walmart - have ignored the call and accuses them of "scrambling to protect their own bottom lines".
