DHAKA - Brands are partly to blame for the prevalence of gender-based violence against women garment workers in Bangladesh, according to a new report.
The study, entitled Break the Silence, Stop the Violence, was carried out by the Bangladesh Centre for Workers Solidarity (BCWS) and the FEMNET organisation in Germany.
It found that 76 per cent of all interviewed workers had suffered some form of gender-based violence in the workplace, with sexual harassment the most common.
