MONDRAGON - Spanish outdoor apparel brand Ternua has launched a circular economy project to use the wool of the Latxa sheep - which almost entirely goes to waste - as thermal insulation for high quality jackets.
Latxa is a breed of domestic sheep from Spain's Basque County with long, coarse wool bred for the very high quality of its milk which is used to produce speciality cheeses.
Ternua's Latxa Artileshell project aims to demonstrate the potential of the currently unsellable Latxa wool to be reintroduced into the market as a natural thermal insulation for performance outdoor jackets.
