LONDON – Sustainability reporting agency Standard Ethics has downgraded the outlook for sportswear giant Adidas from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’, stating that whilst the firm has made progress to improve its social and environmental policies, it could do more to achieve gender equality and greater internationality within its supply chain.
Standard Ethics Ratings are assigned to companies which voluntarily request sustainability assessments of their businesses and are calculated based on documents and guidelines published by the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
For the willing brand recipients, it provides them with a neutral party’s perspective and helps companies and organisations talk a common language with stakeholders and investors.
