LONDON – Sustainable sourcing platform SupplyCompass has developed new compostable packaging for fashion brands, providing an alternative to conventional plastic packaging that often cannot be recycled and thus ends up in landfill.
According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s report The New Plastics Economy, plastic packaging has a share hold of 26 per cent of all plastics produced a year.
To this end, SupplyCompass hopes to engage fashion firms, as its corn-based biopolymer solution is said to be as durable as plastic but can break down in as fast as six months.
