HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Fashion Summit (HKFS) is set to return for its 2019 edition, with 52 speakers from 12 countries taking part. This year the event’s theme will be ‘Achieving the Goals’, with a focus on how fashion brands can be more ‘sustainable’ in their day-to-day operations.
The summit will consist of a two day conference and a Fashion Future Challenge Award. HKFS says the event “plays a vital role to provide a sharing platform for participants from around the world to exchange insights on the latest sustainable fashion trends, technology, best practice, solutions, and opportunities.”
“The focus on day one is ‘digital revolution in sustainable fashion industry’ and day two is ‘responsible design and consumption’. It will address the insights of sustainable development for the fashion industry in the perspectives of innovation, manufacturing, design and branding, and consumer initiatives,” Wilson Lam of Clothing Industry Training Authority told Ecotextile News.
“There are 52 speakers from 12 countries including UK, USA, Korea, Taiwan, China & Hong Kong, Germany, Austria, Sri Lanka, Australia, Sweden, Belgium and Switzerland. The speakers are from the UN, brands and retailers, supply chains, new start-ups, designers, design educators, NGOs such as WWF, C&A foundations and R&D organizations,” he added.
The Fashion Future Challenge Award aims to assist students in proposing solutions for the fashion industry to tackle challenges, develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and presentation skills and enhance knowledge of sustainability, environmental protection and modern fashion.
The 2019 Hong Kong Fashion Summit will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 5-6. Register for the event here.
