NEW YORK – The development of a new industry tool which could greatly improve transparency and communication throughout fashion supply chains has been backed by H&M, Target, PVH Corp, Microsoft and an array of sustainable fashion organisations ahead of its launch in November.
CircularID, a product traceability platform that collates relevant garment-specific data including: materials, origin, price, style and recycling instructions, has been conceptualised in-line with broader ambitions by the fashion industry to adopt circular business practices.
Efforts over the coming months will look to refine this data to hopefully incite greater participation in recycling efforts, while encouraging compliant brands and manufacturers to produce more durable clothing that will represent a shift away from current fast fashion practices.
