BRUSSELS – The European Commission (EC) has adopted a new Circular Economy Action Plan, which will address product design, manufacture and waste in industries including textiles, plastics and packaging.
Just one of the building blocks of the €1 trillion Green Deal, the Action Plan establishes measures for sustainable progression in sectors where the “potential for circularity is high”.
“We only have one Planet Earth, and yet by 2050 we will be consuming as if we had three,” said commissioner for the environment, oceans and fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius. “The new Plan will make circularity the mainstream in our lives and speed up the green transition of our economy.”
