HAMBURG – German retailer Tchibo’s will expand its ‘Share’ rental programme this year to include more infant and children’s wear after a recent review of the first 12 months of the company’s sustainability initiative.

The company found the ‘conversion rate’ of web visitors to its rental programme is steadily increasing, with clothing for infants and classic styles proving the most popular. It also says that 90 per cent of the returned rented garments are reusable.

However, orders of larger sizes of clothes have not fared as well as their smaller counterparts. Also, homeware has not seen a great level of success in the rental marketplace, with items such as bed linen not being chosen by consumers.
