NEW YORK – At a presentation here at Texworld in New York, Yan Yan, Deputy Director at the Office for Social Responsibility of the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) revealed the country wants to forge a new image under three new labels: Technology, Fashion and Green and will continue to tighten its grip on environmental issues.
The move is a direct response to other global textile environmental standards and initiatives, which are gaining traction around the world, but in China the industry is pressing ahead with its own environmental agenda as part of its 5-year economic plan that has seen regulation tightened and factory shutdowns in the textile sector that have squeezed supplies.
