BEAVERTON – Sportswear brand Nike has published its latest Impact Report for the fiscal year 2019, which highlights that the company has made good headway in mitigating resource consumption, increasing its use of ‘sustainable’ materials and supporting those in its supply chain.
Notably, the company has reduced its water usage in textile dyeing and finishing by a quarter in the past five year and has concurrently increased its use of renewable energy at owned or operated facilities by 13 per cent in the same period.
“If there is no planet, there is no sport,” said recently appointed CEO, John Donahoe. “It is this understanding that drives the urgency of our commitment to sustainability and impact.”
