TOKYO – Japanese conglomerate Fast Retailing has announced the adoption of new laundering technology for jeans across its whole range of brands, which is said to reduce water usage by more than 90 per cent per wash.
The process, developed in conjunction with Fast Retailing’s Jeans Innovation Center in Los Angeles, California, involves advanced washing equipment which utilises nanobubbles and ozone and will be widely implemented across all the company’s globally-recognised brands by 2020. It has already started selling the first jeans using this production technology for Uniqlo's fall/winter 2018 men's jeans collection.
