In October 2023, Swedish textile recycler Renewcell revealed that sales of its Circulose pulp were significantly lower than expected and that the company was set to miss its target of breaking even by the end of this year. Then, the company axed its former CEO Patrik Lundström and replaced him with a new acting CEO, Magnus Håkansson, before the companies Q3 financial report finally confirmed the challenges it was facing.
What was going on?
In the wake of the past few tumultuous weeks for the company, acting CEO Magnus Håkansson agreed to sit down with Ecotextile News to give some clarification on recent events, and provided his insight on to what the future looks like for the company – and why off-take agreements are so crucial for the success of new ventures in the next gen material world.
