BEIJING – Cotton production in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is set to strengthen despite a range of forced labour-related existing and impending sanctions, according to Chinese State-run media outlets.

 The Beijing-based news organisation noted how the Xinjiang province continued to be China’s cotton powerhouse in 2024 with a production of over 5.68 million tonnes, accounting for 92.2% of the national total.
