PLYMOUTH - Bio-based fibres such as viscose could pose a greater threat to the environment than conventional plastics such as polyester, new research suggests.

The research from a team at the University of Plymouth in the UK also warns that materials being advocated as alternatives to plastic, and used in textiles and products including clothing, wet wipes and period products, should be tested thoroughly before they are used.
