FUKUI - A research team from the University of Fukui in Japan has developed a decolourisation process in which supercritical carbon dioxide effectively penetrates polyester fabrics to remove dyes.

Known as supercritical fluid dyeing, the extracted dyes can then be reused, while the decolourised fabrics also be redyed, all of which is done without toxic chemical use whilst also reducing waste, the team says.
