KOBE – Japanese sportswear brand ASICS has been accused by workers' rights campaigners of standing by while a garment worker at one of its Cambodian supply factories was jailed for forming a trade union.
The Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) claims that ASICS supplier Wing Star Shoes filed a false criminal complaint against worker Chea Chan, leader of a new independent union at the factory, causing him to be jailed for six months.
