GENEVA - The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the World Trade Organisation have signalled their intent to raise $12 billion to support the sustainable cotton industry in West Africa.
Working with ‘Partenariat pour le Coton’ (Cotton Partnership), the WTO/FIFA initiative set up to mobilise resources for the region’s developing cotton/textile industry, the organisations have signed a declaration to galvanise investment financing for a new programme, ‘Cotton-to-Clothing: charting pathways to create sustainable jobs for women and youth in West and Central Africa’.
