TASHKENT - The Cotton Campaign coalition is calling on the government of Uzbekistan to investigate the alleged harassment of a leading independent monitor of workers' rights in the country's cotton industry.
Umida Niyazova, founder and director of the Uzbek Forum for Human Rights, and Sharifa Madrakhimova, a journalist and human rights activist, were reportedly confronted by two men outside Madrakhimova’s house in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan last month.
