DHAKA - Garment workers in Bangladesh continue to face a climate of fear and repression as human rights abuses remains unchecked amid a state-sanctioned crackdown on workers’ rights, according to Amnesty International.
The human rights NGO marked Labour Day by drawing attention to two major garment industry disasters, the Rana Plaza building collapse in which 1,134 people died in April 2013, and the Tazreen Fashions Factory fire five months earlier in which at least 112 workers died.
