YAMAGATA - Japanese biotechnology company Spiber has raised JPY 10 billion ($64.8 million) in a funding round to accelerate the mass production and global sales of its 'Brewed Protein' materials.
Spiber's Brewed Protein materials are made from plant-derived biomass, such as sugar cane and farm waste, using a proprietary fermentation process to produce polymers that can be transformed into a variety of forms, including textiles.
