HURTH - The global market for biopolymers, which are increasingly seen as a way of helping lower carbon emissions and improve both circularity and transparency in textile supply chains, will grow by 17% over the next five years, according to a new report.
The report, ‘Bio‑based Building Blocks and Polymers – Global Capacities, Production and Trends 2023–2028’, from Germany’s Nova-Institute, also shows positive growth for most commercially available, bio‑based polymers in 2023, with the exception of polyester (PET) which saw production fall by 50% - although it should be noted that it holds only a 1% share of the market.
